Sep 18 2007, 12:51 AM EDT An interesting collection - mostly of older films. Where does Casino Royale sit on your list? Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Best Bond Films
Nov 4 2007, 6:36 PM EST That IS an interesting collection. As time has gone on, I have more love for LALD and TMWTGG, than I do for TSWLM. Moore's at his best in the latter, but I thought he was very good as a tough 007 in "Golden Gun." Do you find this valuable? |

Nov 10 2007, 4:06 PM EST The Man With The Golden Gun. I am so sorry to say this and apologize for any offence caused but that film was the weakest film of the series. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Best Bond Films
Nov 11 2007, 3:43 PM EST I have to agree there. Moonraker and DAD were pretty awful. Though the third nipple thing for Scaramanga was a bit silly. Do you find this valuable? |

Nov 11 2007, 9:17 PM EST I've got to vote for a throw back and one of Connery's faves - From Russia With Love. A classic. Not as flamboyant as Goldfinger, but perhaps a better "film" Do you find this valuable? |

Nov 13 2007, 2:23 AM EST The "superfluous papila" was an invention of Fleming's. The villains have to be physically abnormal in SOME way, I guess. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Best Bond Films
Nov 13 2007, 2:28 AM EST I'd say so. My benchmark is whether the film actually improves on Fleming, and "From Russia," "Dr. No," "Goldfinger," "OHMSS," and "Casino Royale" actually do. Plus, I have a fondness for the Dalton's, "Goldeneye," and "Diamonds Are Forever" (for my own absurd reasons). But, you know, brass tacks, I'd sit through any of them in a theater again. I enjoy them all to a degree. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Best Bond Films
Nov 25 2007, 8:25 AM EST Well, Dalton didn't appear in "Goldeneye" but Brosnan did- and it's the best of his Bonds. "Diamonds" to me is just cheap looking and Connery walks through it- seeming to be on his way to pick up the check (and get on to filming "Zardoz"...). FRWL somehow just feels like an all around involving Bond story- gadgets exist- but come off as tools versus toys. The settings, the involvement with locals (including the character of Ali Kerim Bey, who could have been in every Bond as far as I am concerned- he's that enjoyable!) and the villiany just all come together, with the most subtle sexy Bond woman to create and fine film that left the roughness of the first film behind, yet doesn't shoot for any single element to create an almost too memorable impact like the next few films (gold-painted woman, super-sinister gold freak, stolen nukes, spacecraft stealing rockets to name a few). SPECTRE wants a Lektor, but isn't about to blow crap out of the world to get one- they try to do it with a bit of finesse. For the worst Bond film, not including the dreadful "Never Say Never" (Sean! WHAT the hey happened to "Warhead"?? I read the script you co-wrote and it played great!!), I have to say Brosnan's last "Die Another Day" just blows- and that's taking into account all of the Moores. DAD falls into the "itching powder in my underwear" category of movies. What a mess. I'd rather sit through "A View to a Kill" again than see that a 2nd time (actually I DiD watch it for the 2nd time recently- ugh. There's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back...). I also apparently fat-finger in my reply meaning to type "...woman, a fine film...." Ugh. Time to grab my PPK (and some sleep!). BP Do you find this valuable? |
