Wow. Lazenby gets a rough rap. I happen to think he wasn't that bad. Maybe better than Dalton? There, I said it.

I agree- he was a better actor than Dalton- but it's really the Bond behind them that's going into this list- my least favorite Bond films(even tho they all rock) happened to have Lazenby. But it was the writing that i didn't like as much as the others- not the actor- it was the Bond.

BULL!

Lazenby was a model! He got through the thing on sheer chutzpah. Then Hunt had to go in and save his performance by re-dubbing his voice (or merely replacing it during the Piz Gloria scenes) to get a decent performance out of him! Watch OHMSS again and see how his voice-quality changes throughout.

Dalton brought a rougher, tougher quality to Bond--a professional who saw women as a distraction (maybe even a deterrent) to the Mission, which was his primary goal. There was something else to Dalton that I liked: you got the impression that he could lose it when pushed, that he'd go out of control and blow the job through recklessness--something very much in the Fleming mode. His Bond struggled.

Dalton did something nobody else did (or does). There was a line that Fleming repeated book after book (he did that a lot): "Bond's eyes became fierce slits." Dalton was the only guy who did it--the first time, being in that tight close-up after Saunders is killed in "The Living Daylights:" "Yes. I GOT the message." Great stuff.

The other thing is OHMSS had a terrific script--much better than "The Living Daylights." Lazenby did what he could with it. Dalton made the most of "The Living Daylights."

"Calm down?" I am ever thus.

And no offense taken. Check out Lazenby in a movie called "Saint Jack." he could be very good. And now, you see him do interviews and he's the most charming fellow in the world. Not the sort to look backward and regret.

Dalton seems to have the most fun playing villains--check out "The Rocketeer" or "Shaun of the Dead." But he's at his best in a British tv-movie (written by "Prime Suspect's" Lynda LaPlante) called "Framed."

1. Craig/ Connery
2. Dlaton/ Brosnan
3. Lazenby
4.
5.
6. Moore

I think Connery looked the way Fleming described him as, Craig has ice-cold eyes. I couldn't decide who was better so there my number 1

Dalton acts the way Bond is supposed to and Brosnan has Bonds Charm.

Lazenby was a bit wonky with that Crevatte but other wise he was allright.

Moore was so Bad his one liners sucked and he tried to make a joke of everything. he had similar eyes to Craig but never used them the way bond shoul and he was a bit of a wimp all the other Bond's were rebels.

Late to the party. Here goes!
1. Connery: set the bar, manly, athletic, quick witted, but not too dandy. Handsome.
2. Craig: brought us back to basics, brooding, masculine yet still looked good in a suit.
3. Brosnan: looked great in a suit, re-energized franchise after the 80s
4. Moore: I grew up watching roger moore, but the 70s fashions, and limp wristed approach make it hard to vote higher. Some great films though! And he had to take it in a different direction than Connery.
5. Lazenby: See OHMSS. He had potential!
6. Dalton: Too dark, death of the cold war, AIDS, never had a chance.

Interesting...Do you have ever read a Fleming's book ?
Each actor brings us something of 007, but Dalton and Craig, the first by his physical aspect, the second by his psycology, are the closer.
