Sean Connery Tux
Aug 13 2007, 3:45 AM EDT I believe this picture of Connery shown in the 1960s section is from "Never Say Never Again", which was made in the 80s. Someone should update this and show Connery's tux from either the Colonel Smithers dinner scene in "Goldfinger" or the club/casino scene from "Dr.No". 6 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Sean Connery Tux
Aug 13 2007, 7:56 AM EDT I think you're right. Connery looks a little chubby = he's getting a little old. Now that I think about it though, it doesn't really make much sense to have the tuxedos broken up into decades like the suits. except for Lazenby's thing he has on, all the tuxes are pretty much the same. guess that's one of the things that distinguishes tuxes from suits: tuxes stay pretty standard across time. Dec 12 2007, 3:28 PM EST Well now, there are wide lapel tuxes and there are the ones with no flair lapels--slim jim's, like Connery wore in "Dr. No," so I don't think you can say that tuxes are standard. Do you find this valuable? |

Dec 12 2007, 4:15 PM EST again, we agree. i didn't say that they were standard. i said that they stay "pretty standard" (wrt suits) across time. my point above was about how to best group the different tuxes. i had them grouped by decade, and there wasn't any clear progression or development as with the suits. RE: Sean Connery Tux
Jan 30 2008, 11:17 PM EST I never understood why Bond was wearing a white tux in the cantina at the beginning of Goldfinger.... I mean, it would've made more sense if he was in a suit. Tux's are for formal places, like casino--the ONLY place 007 should be in a tux. I guess this was Guy Hamilton's sense of humor. Do you find this valuable? |

(In one of the out-takes on the "Essential DVD" for DAF, there's a scene between Saxby and Sammy Davis, Jr. where Sammy sees Connery walk in all white tuxed out and says something along the lines of "I'd like to see the size of the wedding cake HE escaped from."
