Guns.....
Aug 7 2007, 3:44 PM EDT OK, fellas....the Berretta was taken away by and the PPK issued by the ARMORER,ala Major Boothroyd ... NOT the Quartermaster, aka "Q". If you listen to M ,he calls over the intercom "Armorer!" and in walks Maj. Boothroyd. I know I'm a stickler but check the dvd ! Stop calling him Q . 8 out of 12 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Guns.....
Nov 14 2007, 10:41 PM EST A Minor Fact: The PP/PPK was eventually discontinued by the British Secret Services, when during an assassination attempt on a member of the Royal family, a intelligence officer's PPK jammed. I know that there is more to the story, but I lost the references so you'll have to find that yourself. I forget what the Brits use now. Anyway. Cheerio! Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Guns.....
Dec 12 2007, 3:22 PM EST And Desmond Llewelyn in his interviews said that he got the part because Peter Burton wasn't available for "From Russia With Love." Plus, "Q" has given Bond guns in other movies--"Moonraker," for example, and has demonstrated guns in almost every movie, "Goldfinger," being the first, so for all intents and purposes, since "Dr. No," the jobs of the "Armourer" and "Quartermaster" have been the same--and it's been Boothroyd, otherwise known as "Q," for "Q branch." RE: Guns.....
Feb 19 2008, 11:58 AM EST The scene in Dr. No in which James Bond kills Professor Dent the gun he uses is not the Wather PP used in the rest of the movie. It appears to a hammerless model similar to a Remington Model 51. Does anyone have any information on this? It seems fairly obvious to me, but I' ve never seen any other comments at it. Feb 19 2008, 8:18 PM EST "And Desmond Llewelyn in his interviews said that he got the part because Peter Burton wasn't available for "From Russia With Love."True enough,in the movies. Maybe they stuck the two men and departments together for expediency or the Armorer was in Q Branch as a sub-department. I always thought they should have been seperate. Q Branch being the overall supply and Armorer being a specialty department with its own expert on weapons. In the books we never know Q's name, but we meet Maj.Boothroyd in Dr.No---I think? .....C. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Guns.....
Feb 27 2008, 2:03 PM EST In "From Russia With Love" Desmond Llewelyn issues Bond an AR-7 take-down rifle, and in the end credits is listed as Boothroyd. Does that make Q the Armorer? 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Does that make Q the Armorer?"True...in the movie....in the books( I think ) they're seperate people. But as I said before ,for the films they must have incorporated them for ease. In the military Quartermaster is the overall supplyer of equipment ad within that are weapons experts----so,its kind of apples and oranges.................................C.
