"Not VERY closely, but the rough outline is similar and there are some fairly direct comparisons - ie, the duel at "Blades" (a card club in the novel, a fencing school in the film.)"Maybe, but DAD seemed to copy so many things from other films (Bond girl introduced walking out of sea in a bikini, diamond satellite with a laser that can blow up parts of the world, Aston Martin chase on ice, and a plane with shattered windows/cabin depressurisation ultimately resulting in villains death.) that a "fairly" direct comparison to one of the novels is basically overshadowed. Do you find this valuable? |

"So THAT'S why it's so awesome!"The Moonraker NOVEL was pretty cool, yes. But the film adaption was a bit absurd. It was still better than Die Another Day though. I've never seen so much copying of older movies in one film. The filmmakers must have really been outta ideas. Do you find this valuable? |

Interesting that the same source material was used for both, yet Die Another Day turned out so poorly and Moonraker is so great.

DIE ANOTHER DAY was considered an "anniversary celebration" and the concept was to throw in as many nods to previous Bond movies as possible. At one point, the producers wanted all the surviving Bond Girls to have a cameo in the picture, but the idea was ultimately dropped. Do you find this valuable? |

It made it feel unoriginal throughout and the atrocious CGI bogged it down even more. Pierce was still a cool Bond, though. Do you find this valuable? |

"I didn't say it was a GOOD idea... ;) "Hehe very good point :) I reckon Casino Royale would've made a good anniversary movie... Oh well - perhaps we'll get a good one in 2012, for the 50th. But if Bond #23 isn't out till next year then that might not happen. Do you find this valuable? |

The Gustav Graves character is Hugo Drax from the novel.
