So what happened to the money?

It was set up as a classic "promise the boss the world, then worry about delivering." Bond realizes he's been double-crossed, says he'll head off to the bank right away to deposit the winnings. And then drama...crumbling building...flooding...Vesper dies...Mr. White gets the money. Then Bond kneecaps White. Cliffhanger!

Well we now know from Quantum of Solace, that (spoilers here)...Mr. White got away, and as of that moment nobody talked about money ever again.

I think they completely blew this. It was a major cliffhanger, major maguffin, major reason to go see QoS, and it was just plain dropped. And that goes for the Quantum organization itself, by the way, which is a completely different subject. But what about that money? 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Good point. I suppose we're meant to assume that White delivered the money to QUANTUM (who possibly reimbursed Le Chiffre's remaining investors). Doubtful that White still had the money on him when Bond came calling.

Also, I don't think it was ever really about the money for MI6 or the CIA. They wanted to bankrupt Le Chiffre in order to turn him, and the money was just a tool to that end. I'm sure they wanted the money back, but all things considered I'll bet if they had a choice between grabbing the cash or capturing Mr. White, they'd go for White. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Quite agree my dear man. Another goof in the 'QOS' film. Money never explained. Shame. Hopefully Bond Producers will pick up on these mistakes for the next 007 film. Do you find this valuable?
