I always thought Pierce was great, especially in GE, its just that he was in the movies that took it a little too far (however, he didnt go into space). But I thought the way he portrayed the character was excellent. Like the scene in DAD when he walks into the hotel, bearded, long-haired, soaking wet, and is still the most sophisticated person you ever saw. And he then calmly casually asks for his room

Finally someone who agrees with me. Brosnan portrayed Bond perfectly with the perfect blend of emotion (none of this moment of crying and then back to killing within seconds), humour (not taking it too far like Moore), anger and calm sophistication. In many ways he was the perfect blend of every other Bond, the sophistication of Connery, the Humour of Moore, the anger of Dalton and Craig and the Emotion of Lazenby. Do you find this valuable?

That makes perfect sense now that I think about it.

One of the things I like most about Pierce Brosnan as well, is the fact that he quit before he got too old. Much of the press (with the help of EON) tried to make it look like he was sacked/let go for being a money grabber, but he says himself he wanted to go before he got too old like Roger Moore did. That showed respect for the role. Do you find this valuable?

Brosnan was paying attention on not playing the role as James Bond when he was getting too old, but he did wanted to make another movie after Die Another Day (2002). He said, and I quote: “I'd like to do another, sure. Connery did six. Six would be a number, then never come back." But the negotiations broke down between Brosnan and the Bond-producers, because they were looking for a new and younger Bond.

Yes, he did want out before he turned 50, seeing the reaction to Moore playing Bond in his 50s. But when he said this, many fans said he could pull it off, because he looked so young. However, it was a good move to drop out when he did.
