I have a certain fondness for Diamonds are Forever even though it really isn’t the best James Bond movie, but you can’t argue with my emotions. For me DAF is like comfort food.

Anyway on topic, I remember the first time I watched DAF (I guess I was about 11 or 10) and I thought that Wint and Kidd were very creepy and the nonchalant, emotionless way they dispatch their victims was disturbing. Especially when they kill that old lady and Kidd is taking pictures. I know she was a diamond smuggler but it’s still pretty harsh. Over the years (I’m now 35) the disturbing aspect wore off. Now I think that they are pretty funny and I like all of their scenes, but they are still a very creepy pair. I wouldn’t want to be left alone with them.

In the Novel DAF, both are gay. They run around with black hoods over their face. They follow Bond and Miss Case on the QE2 for a final showdown.

Very cool villians. The gay aspect is perhaps a bit unsettling for some, but in an odd way it adds to their ruthless yet cavalier on-screen vibe. The way they dress, the way they dispose of their victims and the perfectly conducted / cued music during their scenes all adds to their Bond movie coolness factor. But I really like Diamonds Are Forever though, it's one of my personal favourite Bond flicks, so I guess my thinking that Mr Wint and Mr Kidd are cool is just part of the territory. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. They are cool villains, prolly two of the most sinister of the series. I wish they were in another movie with them in it.

They would'nt have been out of place in The Avengers imo. They provided a cool "dark humor" touch in DaF. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Ah I was the same way when I was little! (20 now) When I caught it on TV when I was little I didn't get it at all but I was all into space stuff at the time so the Satellite thing is what allowed me to pay attention.

Watching it recently, I get all the humor between the two, also that the move... 'IS INDEED COMFORT FOOD!'

And for people who don't like Diamonds are forever...
In the words of Mr. Kidd "That is most Unfortunate..."
