A black Bond?

It seems the more Bond films veer from some of the traditions of the past the more they open speculation on further changes. A black Bond? I struggle seeing Fox in the role. If the producers really wanted to pull this off I think they'd have to a) go with someone less known and b) find a brit. I can't see a yank pulling this off. Of course a lot of people freaked out about a blond bond (Craig) so I can see this speculation (IMO) setting a few folks off. 8 out of 11 found this valuable. Do you? |

There would simply be too many cultural differences for them to identify as the same character Fleming created. 7 out of 9 found this valuable. Do you? |

I might be against a black Bond for many reasons, first Flemming's hero was white and male, next isn't Bond British and Foxx American? Several years ago I heard a host a one of those so called enterainment show say it was time for a black Bond, well why not a black Robin Hood? Or any character from litrature have there sex and race and nationality changed? Political Correctness goes to far to often, soon we will see people from real history changed in race and sex and origin, and if it goes since we have a half black american president then would it not be also fair for a white male or even female to protray Obama? Prehapes a Russian?

Sorry to say, more Post-Obama win mania. I wish they'd keep this out of the UK and specifically, out of the James Bond franchise. Still, with a "Black actor," I could only see Colin Salmon really gelling into a Bond role, though. He's awesome. I rather miss him from the films. I'm not a racist and I don't want to come off as one but a black Bond would not be good. I do say that I'm glad they made Felix black, I think that's cool but Bond is meant to be a Caucasian British male, of which Foxx is neither Caucasian or British. If they made Foxx Bond, Flemming would be rising out of his grave to kill the producers. Sorry but there are somethings that just can't be done and one of them is a black Bond

this has happened before. years ago P Diddy said he could be the first black bond. no. sorry but bond isnt black. its not racist to think like that its just bond is a white guy. its like saying he should be an american spy instead of british. he is a character and defined by his characteristics. white, british, male

I think a black Bond could work, but wholeheartedly agree that it's far more important that Bond remain British. So I don't see Foxx in the role. Like Gettler, I could see someone like Colin Salmon pulling it off, though.Of all the "concept Bonds" that have been suggested -- a gay Bond, a female Bond, an American Bond, a black Bond -- I think the black Bond would be the least problematic change for this particular character. Of course, we all know this is just conjecture for the sake of conjecture. Actors having fun saying "What if..." 3 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

If a black man can become the 44th el presiadente of the United States, then there is no doubt in my mind a black man can be the 7th Bond of Ian Fleming. But keep him a brit.

I think above all Bond was a British agent so let;s keep it in the UK shall we. There are black men in MI6 so I could care less if Bond is black or white. Maybe at least a new 006 or 008 could be black. I think it's both honest and progressive. Keep in mind that when Fleming was writing most blacks couldn't vote in the US.
