20. RE: My hopes for Bond 23

"Regardless of the plot line I hope we get a return to some of the more traditional Bond elements. This isn't to say I want a 180 from where things are going, but a glimpse of Moneypenny or a new (dare I say practical?) gadget would be nice. We don't need every Bond tradition rolled back in, but a few (well placed) would put me at ease...."My sentiment exactly...a few classic bond-isms is just what the next movie needs...and I personally would love to see John Cleese reprise the role of Q. 1 out of 4 found this valuable. Bond movies are almost not Bond movies anymore. They are becoming just another action flick. Where are the girls he hooks up with - at 2 or 3 since day one. Where is Q? No gadgets anymore? Bond, James Bond. This line is now eliminated from the movie. Where are the slight of tongue comments Bodn use to have. Those are things that make it a BOND movie. Lets get back to what the first 20 movies had. WTF???

As long as they bring back the Q branch and bring out some new and realistic gadgets that would be great. The lack of gadgets in QOS wasn't a killer for the movie, but it would have been nice, i mean at least there were a few in CR in the Aston Martian and they did save Bonds life.

Bond needs to have a least a couple of set scenarios to be considered true Bond movies. I want to see M in her office, Moneypenny (Lois Maxwell RIP) in her office, Q in his lab showing off gadgets, Bond using a gadget of note in the movie. Old Skool Bond Girls..and finally true Bond Villains who want World Domination and not Money Launderers or Faux-Environmentalists. Finally, what I miss most, is a bit of sardonic wit. The movies can be serious but utter a double-entendre, a bon mot or a one-liner now and then.. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think they sould keep Judi Dench and bring in Alfred Molina or Tim Curry as a villain. I also think Q and Moneypenny should come back(John Cleese playing Q again). And they should have another comic relief like Sheriff J.W Pepper

Agreed. In Bond 23, i want Bond to have to bring a total end to Quantum, perhaps with Camille's help. Also, in my dream world, I would like it to end with The begining of Dr. No, with Bond at the Bacarte table with Sylvia Trench. (Seeing as Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Bond 23 are all "Prequals"). And have the movie END with Craig saying. "Bond. James Bond." Also the Gunbarrel should be at the BEGINNING this time...

What Bond really does need now is:-moneypenny -Q -A blowfeld type villain -The villain has his/her own secret base(preferably hiden) -evil henchman (that speaks) -the villain has a truly evil plan that bond needs to stop like in- YOLT, MOONRAKER,TSWLM,THUNDERBALL,DAF,TND,GOLDENEYE,DAD -really hot bond girl (that in the end he sleeps with) -gadgets -car that has gadgets built in -cool car chase -gun barrel opening -the villain dies in the end -bond kills the villains -THE MAIN VILLAIN DOSNT GET SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Needs to be 'stand-alone' and 'big'. None of this behind the scenes power-struggle, financial management of terrorism stuff. As said in the main article, there needs to be a 'ticking bomb' - a real and tangible threat that needs to be averted. Bomb, assassination, whatever.Needs to retain the more 'serious' tone which matches up far more effectively with the Bond of the books. Less of the "we're running thin on plot, let's have a chase/fight" lazy writing. DON'T RE-WRITE HAGGIS. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Having just seen QOS, one thing that I hope they do (or more accurately, DON'T DO) in the next one:I am thinking the Quantum groups will be in all upcoming pre title sequences, showing either how they go after Bond or how Bond goes after them. However, not having any direct link to the post title storyline. This would be similar to the 60s version when the pretitle was basically about SPECTRE/SMERSH going after Bond and vis versa. This way, there will always be fresh and easy pretitles sequence to work from...after all this organization is far to large to take care of in one or two films. Just a thought...glad I joined this group. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

yeah man thats the way i feel, hopefully they'll see their mistakes and step up to the plate. i'm not knocking the movie or anything but every movie always has the same traditions as the ladies, the gadgets, the action, humour, etc.

What virtually killed the franchise was the over-reliance on doing the same old shit. Audiences move on - for every Bond fanatic who just wants a variation on the same formula there are a dozen cinema-goers who liked the idea of a British Secret Service agent saving the world, like action movies, like spies, like 'clever' movies. There's no point in making a film for the 1 in 13 that want that, when you can make them for the 12 in 13 who want the quality action film and don't care about the formula.
