He was in fact the very BEST French art house actor! Dare I say that French cinema has never recovered from his retirement in 1998 when he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming the world's first talking mime.

"After all, Bond, from his biography, is born to a scottish father and a swiss mother. And Connery is from Scotland. "
Just so you know, Ian Fleming wrote that AFTER he saw Connery as Bond. He liked Connery so much that he made Jame's father Scottish.

"Moore and Dalton were the reason the series began to fail (well actuall the writers use of them), Brosnan had to rebuild the popularity of the series. Thats why for me Brosnan and Connery are the best, not only are they best in their portrayals, but Connery's Bond was what made people fall in love with Bond, and Brosnan made people fall back in love with Bond have years of despising te series. Craig seems to be retaining the audience that Brosnan built up."
Behold there. If Craig sacrificed his body by doing his own stunts in Quantum of solaceWHY THE MOVIE was hardly a box office smash. It raked in a respectable 515 million dollars worldwide but it is nowhere close to kung fu panda which grossed more than 600 million worldwide.Even movies like Iron man and Hancock did beteer in the box office. That only means Craig is losing the appeal and i would only agree that Craig is the best bond if his next bond film grosses more than 700 million dollars.Till then, keep your fingers crossed

I stake every cent I've got to my name that any failings with QOS were down to the director rather than Craig. He's an excellent Bond whether the next movie makes $300m or $900m.

I'd go with him at No 2, with Brosnan at 3. Connery is, of course, at no. 1. Moore would be No. 4 for his longevity rather than his ability. Dalton at 5 and Lazenby at 6. That said, I didn't think there was an enormous amount wrong with Lazenby or Dalton, they just weren't as good as the others.

Moore was absolutely the best Bond, then Dalton, Brosnan and Connery. Lazenby only made one so it's hard to say he should be higher.

Moore should be higher. He owned the role longer than anyone.

Sure it does. The producers kept him on because his films made money.
