I did not like it one bit - Space and space dont mix. The movie was made in a rush in heat of the Starwars saga, it was horrible!!

You know, I've made all sorts of disparaging remarks about "Moonraker." I'm a bit of a purist--I don't think Bond should be in space. But when I was pulling screen-caps for the Moonraker sets, I watched it again, and, hey, I didn't mind it. Moore's very good in it. Chiles is fine (though her line deliveries are a bit flat). "Jaws" was enjoyable, though his effectiveness as a villain was diluted (and as much as we diss the "Holly" romance, it's their incompatibility that makes Jaws turn against Drax's "Master Race" plan.

And it has Bernard Lee's last performance as "M." Watch his last scene with Moore in Italy--they're both terrific in it.

So, yeah, I hate the gondola, and the double-taking pigeon and the fall in the circus tent--although up 'til then that pre-credit sequence is pretty dang amazing--all that stuff. But I didn't HATE it.

I had much the same reaction to "The Man With the Golden Gun." Seeing it again, it wasn't as awful as I remember it. Now, "A View to a Kill?" Eh.

Yes, it's one of the few times there are some interesting wrinkles added to the Bond/M/Def. Min. Grey triad. It's also one of the few times the bad guy is engaging a plot to annihilate the WORLD -- without some barely-feasible plot to get the two superpowers to do it for him. The line "take care of Mr. Bond, see to it that some harm comes to him" is one of the very best. And while I still think there's some come-uppins earned for that wretched centrifugal-simulator scene, it's just not fair to rip into that one and then let that back-stretcher scene from Thunderball escape something equally harsh.

All in all, Moonraker was alright. I think Jaws should have been treated with more respect, but that's just my opinion.
