Mar 23 2008, 12:14 PM EDT I prefer the older style Bond Films, for me Le Chiffre was pretty lame as a villain, physicaly weak, and not even that smart to make up for it (though the weeping blood thing was cool). He doesn't even get killed by Bond. But it is more believable thatn someone creating a new civilization under the sea, i guess. So it has a sense of realism that the older films maybe didn't. Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 23 2008, 5:59 PM EDT I personally like the "new direction" (which is really kind of a return to the original/hardedged direction). I also think some of the dissatisfaction with Craig is that he dose'nt have the "look"--- dark hair,saturnine face ala the book and Connery/Dalton/Brosnan. He will prob'ly grow into the role as time goes on,if we give him the chance. And,by the way,in the books Bond directly does NOT kill LeChiffe,Mr.Big and Drax,his first 3 villians----even tho' he sets them up for it ,he does'nt actually "pull the trigger". Of course Hollywood is different. Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 24 2008, 10:13 AM EDT "Oh. I've never actually read any of the books. I've been meaning to, i'm staring at a copy of For Your Eyes only as i type this. I'll get round to it one day. I know it wasn't the first time in the films even that Bond hasn't killed the main villain himself, but i think Le Chiffre's death was really lame. And it happend whilest Bond was practically unconscious. How Bond killed the villain is one of my favourite parts of any Bond movie, so how Chiffre died was just another reason i prefferd the older films. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Read "Casino Royale" the book!--you'll have a great time, and you'll be surprised at just how close the writers came to it. There's no parkour scenes or airport fights, of course, as Fleming wrote it in the early 1950's. But you owe it to yourself to get into Fleming. In fact, I envy you that you haven't read them yet--you're in for a fun adventure! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

That's the first time I've read that someone thinks that Craig is a "pretty boy," (especially coming off the Dalton-Brosnan years) the argument about him has usually been the opposite! Interesting! Mar 26 2008, 3:50 PM EDT Well, I think the movie was fine. Yes Le Chiffre was a OK villian, but this movie just had to be made. Many say that this movie was horrible and shouldn't have been made, but this is talking about Bonds early years, and this is a completly new approch. I will be excitied to see Bond grow in QOS. So yes, this movie had to be made. This movie was good (better than the prevois one, Die Another Day). 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
