What was your favorite Fleming work? Do you think Fleming would be proud of Daniel Craig's CR? 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Well....good question. I'd be hard pressed to figure which book I liked best. They all were great stories, some with a bit more depth than others, wild plots and characters, some more "beliveable" . Off the bat I'll say FRWL...a very well drawn in depth book.
Maybe this is another thread but I always wonderd what IF would've thought of the evolution of Bond and the adaptation of his books had he lived. I think he'd have liked CR and Craig as it seems to be going back to the more darker,in-depth 007 Fleming wrote.

Fleming lived long enough to be able to see where they were going with it in "Goldfinger"--there are pictures of him visiting with Connery and Shirley Eaton on the set--so I'm betting he would have been happy as long as the money kept rolling in, and he was getting some press attention.

I think he would have been happy with Craig. I think he would have been happy with Lazenby and Moore.

But just imagine...there would have been more James Bond stories if he had lived that longer *sigh*

It's hard to find better than FRWL or OHMSS. That was Fleming engaged and working hard to top himself.

I'm sure Fleming would've loved the paychecks.....and more original Fleming books would have been wonderfull! It would have been nice to see some of the gaps of Bonds life filled in,and new assignments too.
I think he lived until the filming of TB (?). I wonder if him being on the set helped make those early movies so like the books? Funny how FRWL and OHMSS are two of my fave books AND movies.

Sadly, he died during the filming of "Goldfinger."

If he hadn't, seeing Broccoli and Saltzman partner with Kevin McClory on "Thunderball" would have angered him.

Oh,sorry ,I thought he lived a bit longer........
Fleming was prob'ly spinning in his grave over McClory.

Thankfully he missed the Moore era. The smirking 007 and the movies having nothing (or not much to do) with the books would've prob'ly disappointed him, even tho' he opted for Rog as Bond.

1: I've just started reading Fleming. 2: I think he would've been proud of all the Bonds ,literary and movie, because his works have touched the lives of countless people making his character (whom he gave a very boring name) is probably the most famous fictional character ever. Everyone has heard of 007. He did not know how successful his one character will be. He sadly never saw his work grow to the films we enjoy today and create a large 007 cult (I'm proudly part of it!). May he rest in peace. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I would have to say the book that started it all, Casino Royale. Its a sham that he missed out on a lot when Bond media swept trough like it did. I'm sure he would have been proud of the series. As for Craig, I'm he would have approved. Too bad he missed out on his 1st choice for Bond, Sir. Moore. Do you find this valuable?
