WHAT ???
Feb 27 2008, 1:26 PM EST
Is he kidding? Does'nt know what it means! Either hes being spitefull because they did'nt use HIS title or he never read the story.
How can they (EON ) laud this guy and use him to write the screenplay for QoS if he does'nt know what its about. This may be be why so many of the movies were just bad----noone read the book!---DUH.
The title is the explanation of the story! This ain't rocket science guy!........C.

I'd hope that he didn't draw too heavily upon the book when writing the script, because Bond's a background character, isn't he? Do you find this valuable?

Ha. Personally I think it's hilarious that nobody knows what "Quantum of Solace" means. Hey, it sounds cool enough to me. Who cares if it has anything to do with anything? I don't know what a "Bourne Supremacy" is supposed to be either, but whatever. Sounds cool.

The syntax of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and "A View to a Kill" still strike me as strange. And "Tomorrow Never Dies?" Huh? "Diamonds Are Forever?" Well yeah, I suppose they are. Kind of.

I always get a kick of how they try to work the title into the film, usually in a way-too-forced fashion, as with Mayday's "Wow, what a view!" and Zorin's "To a kill!" Can't wait to how (or if) they squeeze "Quantum of Solace" into the dialog.

He was hired to only write the script, not pick the name, that is EON's job and the titles are choosen way after the script.

Why would the title come after the script??? Would'nt the story revolve around the title,or the meaning of the title relate to the story??
Dr.No was about Dr. No--DAF,about diamond smuggling--MR,about a rocket named MOONRAKER,CR about a Casino--in Royale....etc.etc.
I'm sure the book story could somehow be used as a backstory or pre-title or the characters relate to the "new" story.
Again -- guys,this ain't rocket science!!!...............................................................C.
PS.bring back Terrance Young! somehow!

Stop pitching a fit.

The title comes after the script. The title, if it's not based on a Fleming story...and this isn't...is a marketting decision.

The story of "A Quantum of Solace" (if you haven't read it, and it sounds like you haven't)is, basically, James Bond listening to a story at a dinner party--he isn't even a main character in the thing. He just sits and drinks and listens. Not much of script idea there, pally.

Terence Young is dead. A fine director for the Bond's (but not much else), we will not see his like again. Time to move on, and stop living in the past.

The title should reflect the story not be an afterthought. And I read the story about 40 years ago along with the others. Its a good story because its a character study were Bond realizes his shadowy world is'nt as dramatic as the real problems and drama of "ordinary " people. Hidden human nature.
Terrance Young helped define the movie 007-- if not for him.......
I'm not pitching a fit , just giving my opinion, trying to think logically, hoping for a return to quality..............................................................................C.

Personally it is a pity we are letting this guy write it if he doesn't know what he is talking about
