REDISCOVERING DALTON....(A THREAD BY MYSELF AND MY SIX YEAR OLD SON!)
My son Jack and I, have recently worked our way through all the Bond films. We think that overall, Mr Timothy Dalton is an excellent James Bond, right up there with Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill are both excellent and Dalton is closest, by far, to the Bond of the books. A smart choice from the boy....whose least favourite films are A View to A Kill and Octopussy. Discuss...

Work on Bond film halted amid MGM woes
Studio has failed to find buyer; 23rd movie in series due for 2011-12 release
LONDON - Producers say work on the next James Bond film has been halted indefinitely because of uncertainty about the future of distributor Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.
Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli say development of the movie was suspended after MGM failed to find a buyer. They said late Monday they did not know when work would resume.
MGM put itself up for sale after a slump in DVD sales and a lack of hits left it unable to manage a $3.7 billion debt.
Wilson and Broccoli's EON Productions has produced 22 Bond thrillers since 1962. The new film, known only as "Bond 23," had been due for release in 2011 or 2012.
Bond actor Daniel Craig says he has confidence in the producers and looks forward to production resuming.

Pierce Brosnan
We all seen Bond movies. And we all know how Brosnan work for 007, and we love how he does the Bond movies that he had. So, I vote for Brosnan for my number 1 followed by Sean Connery. :)

Self-defamation galore!
Evidently, we don't have to do a thing - Craig can destroy his own reputation and career without anyone else's help. Make way for Bond #7.

WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT?: CONNERY'S BOND OR CRAIG'S BOND?
I think it would be Craig. He is a more physical actor.

Craig hates Austin Powers?
Source: The Insider Daniel Craig hates Austin Powers . Well, not hate him as so much that he despises him because he made his job so much harder to do. Daniel does realize Austin was only a movie character, right? Oh, wait, James Bond is a cha

What might the emerging character of Bond mean for us?
The recent changes can be seen in terms of an exit from the framework of the post-Connery Bond formula of an invincible, suave, sex-addicted, gadget-dependent, comedian, fighting even freakier antagonists. What is that Bond’s motivation? Other than pleasure-seeking, he doesn’t need one. Explosions, exotic locales, and alternating tuxedos and skin are enough. Thus, the move out of the unique self-referentially parodic particularities of the franchise, into Craig’s muscle-bound, cruel but all-enduring force is a welcome humanization.
But another way of looking at the changes is to see them as a move into a contemporary action aesthetic, aka copying more-original material. The frenetic editing of the Bourne series makes sense for a portrayal of a man struggling to move beyond his amnesia and piece together the plot of his life. But what’s Bond’s story? With Casino Royale, the ground for a new more meaningful story was laid amid contemporary stylistic trappings. Quantum shocks because it lays bare the central truth of the Bond character—he is a man without a story. Elements of story are present, but no one story is important for Bond. Story happens around him and he reacts. Chasing an organization—sort of. Seeking revenge—kinda. Helping someone kill general what’s-his-face—sure. Preventing water theft—possibly. But a driving commitment to any of these stories is absent. Bond is now the person many of us feel ourselves to be. At times, we see ourselves as no more than isolated individuals reacting to the violent events around us. Just like James, we only start to make sense in the context of a community. Without MI6 and the free world it defends, Bond is just another wanderer. This is why his interactions with M are his most human moments. She is his consistent connection to a meaningful progression. I feel like we all need this person and the community behind them—in this relationship we have potential for commitment to a story for our lives.

yes
In the casino royale book Bond does internally fight with himself and you find out that Bond isn't that calm, smooth man that everyone thinks he is. In one part two soviet agents try to kill Bond with a bomb but it backfires on them and they blow up all over the place and it goes on to explain the blood and parts that fly everywhere. At this sight Bond feels slightly sick and pukes in his mouth a little. Something not everyone expects from James Bond. In my opinion Daniel Craig is playing Fleming's Bond close to the way that it was written!!!

Fantastic
I'm still a Connery man through and through, but this is the best possible news for the next generation of the franchise. Save for perhaps Clive Owen there is no better choice. Will Craig show a bit more range than the brooding thug in the next film? Time will tell.

daniel craig go home...
if he's going to whine now send him packing. it should have been hugh jackman or perhaps even gerard butler to elevate to the 007 role. as for the next
bond girl...whoelse but kate beckinsale...casino royale was a mistake much along the lines of connery's self produced never say never again. casino royale put everything out of sequence by using dame judi dench in her role as "m". other candidates for 007...ewan macgregor, clive owen, robbie williams. as for a title and a plot how's this...THIRD TIMES A CHARM...key off edward viii 's abdication, history has proven he was a nazi sympathizer, he was fond of charles throw in an ailing queen some super neo nazi's, could it be any better
