In late 1981, John Gardner was asked to revive the James Bond novel series. And so, from 1981 to 96', Gardner wrote a total of 14 novels. He also wrote two novelization of two films, GoldenEye and License to Kill.

Though his work was generally well received, many criticized him for his work, on someone he had not even created. Many stated his literary Bond was ''opposite'' of Fleming. Out of rage, Gardner retired in 1996, with his final book appropriately titled "COLD Fall".

Reymond Benson then picked up the series in early 1997.

After receiving a large inheritance, Bond is accused of improprieties and dishonorably dismissed from M16. Disgusted with his former employers, Bond places his services on the open market, where he later attracts the attention of representatives of SPECTRE who are quite willing to put their one-time enemy on their payroll. But the whole thing was a hoax, just a plan to get Bond inside the enemy's organization.

Prior to joining up, Bond spends a month in Monte Carlo with Miss "Percy" Proud, a CIA agent who teaches him everything she knows about programming languages and computers in general. This background allows Bond to attract Jay Autem Holy, an agent of SPECTRE who left The Pentagon, faked his death, and later started a computer game company that creates simulations based on real-life battles and wars.

Proving his worth to SPECTRE, Bond becomes involved in a plot to destabilise the Soviet Union and USA, by forcing them to rid the world of their nuclear weapons.

But what SPECTRE leaders Tamil Rahani and Dr. Jay Autem Holy suspect, but never fully realise is that Bond's resignation is false and along with Bond, the British Secret Service (M16) plays a vital role in foiling SPECTRE.

Pierce Brosnan had actually been on the list for the next Bond since 1984. He finally landed the role in 1995 in GoldenEye after the franchise's 6 year hiatus from production.

He was born in Navan, County Meath, Ireland on May 16, 1953, but moved to London with his family in 1964. He became a commercial artist after leaving school, but was introduced to acting by a co-worker who was in a theatre group in the evenings. He left his job for the life of an actor, and entered the Drama Centre in London, where he studied acting for 3 years. After several years of stage work throughout the UK, he began to work in television and film.Brosnan became well known as Remington Steele which debuted in 1982.He moved with his wife and children to Los Angeles, California, where he Steele was filmed.The series was quite successful, running for more than 4 seasons and 92 episodes.It catapulted Pierce to major stardom in the America. Brosnan was first rumoured to replace Roger Moore in 1984, but he was unable to accept it because of his contract with the Steele TV series and the role went to Timothy Dalton.

In 1994, when Dalton announced that he would not reprise the role of Bond in the next Bond film, Brosnan finally got the role. His first Bond movie, GoldenEye, has grossed over $350 million worldwide, more than any other Bond film to that time. His 2nd Bond film, 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies, grossed more money in the US than GoldenEye. Together, his 4 Bond films have grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide. Brosnan was relieved of his Bond duties in the summer of 2004.

Daniel Craig is the sixth actor to portray James Bond, staring with Casino Royale and is slated to star as James Bond until 2012. Many people didn't agree with the producers choice that Craig was going to be Bond.

After 18 long months of speculation for a Brosnan successor, it was announced that he had the role on the HMS President in London on October 14, 2005. Craig admits he found out that he was playing Bond in a Baltimore Supermarket. Barbra Broccoli called him and simple said "Over to you, kiddo." He then reportedly got drunk.

Synopsis:

A British spy ship has struck a mine and has sunk in Albanian waters. On board was a vital piece of defense equipment, the ATAC transmitter. Bond has to recover it before the Russians get hold of it and use it for no good. The murder of Havelock, a marine archaeologist helping MI6 locate the wreck, gives Bond a lead. He goes after the assassin and encounters the late archaeologist's daughter, Melina, who is on the quest for revenge. She and Bond discover another villain, Emile Locque. But who is he working for? Cassandra Harris was the first wife of Pierce Brosnan.
This was intened to the next movie after The Spy Who Loved Me, but after the box office hit of Star Wars, the producers cashed in on Moonraker.
Caroline "Tula" Cossey was cast as an extra in For Your Eyes Only as one of the Bond-girls by the pool. Shortly after the film's release, the tabloid: News of the World came out with a front page headline that read: "James Bond Girl Was A Boy". At the time of the casting nobody knew that "Tula" used to be a man and therefore it came as a shock to the other cast members.

Detailed synopsis:
The pre title sequence begins with Bond visiting his late wife Tracy's grave being rudely interupted by a universal exports helicopter coming to retrieve him. Once they are flying directly over the thames, a bald man in a wheel chair with a white persian cat {blofeld} hijacks his helicopter via remote control. Bond daringly climbs outside the helicopter then back in and disables the remote control and takes back his helicopter. He then flies over and lifts Blofeld and his wheelchair by the landing gear and drops him down a smokestack.

James Bond 007: Nightfire is a first-person shooter video game based on Ian Fleming's British secret agent James Bond, of the secret British intelligence agency, MI6. This marked Pierce Brosnan's fourth appearance as James Bond before the release of his fourth and final Bond film Die Another Day, however, in the video game, his likeness was only featured and not his voice.

The game was developed by Eurocom for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and Xbox video game consoles. Gearbox Software developed the game for Windows, which Aspyr later ported to the Mac. The computer versions are substantially different from the console versions, featuring different missions and a modified story line. It was published by Electronic Arts in 2002.

In 2003 EA released Nightfire for the Game Boy Advance this time developed by JV Games. This game was a modified version of Moonraker.

The game is a classic first person shooter and there are many weapons and various sorts of explosives that the player can carry throughout the game. As with previous James Bond games, the weapons that appear in the game are based on actual weapons, but with the name changed. Some weapons appear in the console version, but not the PC version, and vice-versa.

The game's prologue mission stars in Paris, France, with James Bond helping Dominique Paradis evade enemy cars while chasing a truck with a stolen nuclear weapon. After stopping the truck from blowing up the Eiffel Tower, Dominique and Bond celebrate the new year in Paris.

M sends Bond undercover to a party in industrialist Raphael Drake's castle in Austria. M believes that the party is a cover fro the exchange of a missile guidance chip between Drake and Alexander Mayhew, who manages the Japanese branch of Drake's industry, Phoenix International, and had stolen the chip from USA. Phoenix is believed to be a front for weapon smuggling. Bond, CIA agent Zoe Nightshade and Dominique, who is posing as Drake's mistress, meet in the castle library.

While Zoe distracts the guards, Bond makes his way to the exchange and steals the chip. Bond and Zoe then escape Drake's forces in an armored snowmobile before continuing in Bond's car. They rendezvous with Q, who takes them out of Austria.

Then Drake threatens to kill Mayhew should the operation fail. Therefore decides Mayhew to contact M16 and saying that he will provide with secret information if Bond comes to his rescue. While Bond is at Mayhew's Japanese estate, Drake's men attacks them. Bond fights his way through the estate and manages to obtain a file from Mayhew's safe. During the process Mayhew is killed by a ninja.

The file leads Bond to Mayhew's office at the Phoenix Building in Tokyo. Bond is able to infiltrate the building, but is then attacked by Drake's men, before Dominique provides a distraction which allows Bond to escape via parachute off the roof of the building.

Nightfire documents lead Bond to a nuclear plant. Bond retrieves evidence of Drake's activities and escapes, but is then double crossed and captured by Kiko, Mayhew's former bodyguard, and turned over to Drake. On the top of the Phoenix building, Drake plans to kill Bond and Dominique, who has been discovered as a mole. Dominique is kicked off the rooftop and killed by Kiko. Bond escapes to the ground level and saved by Alura McCall (a Australian Intelligence agent).

M sends Bond and Alura to Drake's private island, where they infiltrates the island and eliminates Drake's men. Bond makes his way to Drake's underground silo, fighting off Kiko before entering one of three space shuttles intending to capture the Space Defense Platform. Kiko dies in the blast pit when Bond's space shuttle launches. Bond reaches the U.S. Space Defense Platform, where Drake is.

Bond successfully sends all 8 missiles off course, saving millions of lives, and causes Drake's laser weapon to malfunction, leading to a huge explosion. At the end, Bond defeats Drake and goes back down to Earth via an escape pod, where Bond celebrates the victory with Alura.

This game marks the seventh appearance of Pierce Brosnan's James Bond. The game included his likeness, but not his voice.

Lazenby is the second official actor to portray the British secret agent, following Sean Connery, who had become a cultural icon in the role. Lazenby had a difficult task in filling these shoes, and nearly everything about his portrayal of Bond has been controversial.

Lazenby quit the role of Bond right before the premiere of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, citing he would get other acting roles, and that his Bond contract, which was one and a half pages thick, was too demanding on him.

James Bond 007: The Duel (known as 007 ****** in Japan) is a James Bond game released for the Sega Master
System, the Sega Game Gear and the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.

The game is loosely based on the Bond-movies with Ian Fleming's secret agent 007. The game was developed and published by Domark and released in 1993.

General Information:

Plot:

Armed with a PPK and Q's notorious gadgets, the player controls James Bond 007 through various side-scrolling enemy bases to rescue female hostages and arm a bomb placed at a strategic point to destroy the base.
Along the way Bond must fight against numerous thugs and familiar bosses including Oddjob and Jaws.

References to Bond Films:

Many critics state that James Bond 007: The Duel has a likeness to Timothy Dalton's performance, License to Kill, although the game was released 4 years after Dalton's last outing as agent 007.

Also, The Duel is the first Bond game not to have its storyline based on a movie or novel. The game feature an original storyline (through the storyline is not The Duel's strongest point).

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, or, as the new Q likes to call it, the "Vanish." Featured in the movie Die Another Day. The car is equipped with all the usual refinements, including twin .50 Caliber Autocannons and 5 explosive rocket projectiles mounted between the 2 Autocannons behind the retractable lower portion of the main front grille, dorsal target-tracking Shotguns housed on retractable pedestals within the trademark bonnet cooling vents, spike-extending tires, an Infra-Red Search and Track System, and a passenger ejector seat in homage to the original Aston Martin DB5, but used here in a clever bit of improvisation by 007 to right the car when it's been flipped onto it's retractable roof by the proximity detonation of a Heat-Seeking Attack Missile fired from Zao's Jaguar XKR Convertible.

The Vanquish's most notable feature was an Adaptive Camouflage Cloaking System, which allowed it to become effectively invisible at the push of a button: tiny cameras mounted on the car were used to capture the image facing that side of the vehicle and project it onto the other side, making the car invisible. However, this system was susceptible to interruption by gunfire and other external impacts; it failed and required a rather lengthy amount of time to reset and re-activate after being damaged by gunfire from the Gatling Gun mounted on Zao's XKR Convertible.

It's condition now:
-Broken front windshield.
-Numerous scratches, dents and other bodywork damage.

The standard 2002 model Aston Martin Vanquish had a 6.0-Liter 460Bhp V12 engine, and it could accelerate from 0-100Km/h in 4.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 190Mph (306Km/h). Whereas the 2006 Vanquish S and the 40 2007-2008 Vanquish S Ultimate Editions (the latter 40 limited edition cars, equipped with special metallic Black paint and exclusive wheels, were built to commemorate the end of Vanquish production and also mark the end of handbuilt Aston Martin production at the old Newport Pagnell factory when series production was shifted to the new facility at Gaydon) all had an upgraded 520Bhp version of the same 6.0-Liter V12, and they could hit 0-100Km/ in 4 seconds flat and achieve a top speed of about 200Mph (322Km/h).

However, the few 2002 Vanquishes used in the production of Die Another Day were fully stripped and modified for filming. They had their V12 engines removed and replaced with 320Bhp Ford V8 engines in order to create extra space around their engine bays to house the various prop weapons and mechanisms. They were also outfitted with custom-built four-wheel-drive systems with adjustable drive programs to facilitate more stable and predictable driving and handling on the ice and snow during filming. (All other production Vanquishes, from the original 2002 version to the final 2008 S Ultimate Edition, were rear-wheel-drive only).

Interview with Marc Forster - Director of Quantum of Solace

Bond star Daniel Craig recently revealed that filming on the next James Bond movie will start at the end of 2010. In the meantime, director Marc Forster has been spilling the beans on Craig's previous 007 adventure, Quantum of Solace.

Forster who has already said he doesn't want to do the next Bond flick, had his breakthrough with Monster's Ball, for which Halle Berry won a best actress Oscar.

His next film, Finding Neverland, was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and seven Academy Awards. The filmmaker, who had left Switzerland for the USA at the age of 20 to pursue his dream, continued his directorial success with films including Stranger than Fiction, The Kite Runner, and then last year's Quantum of Solace.

In an interview with MakingOf, Forster explains that the Bond flick was, for him, "a very different experience." He had a budget five times the amount he normally worked with plus, for the first time, a huge crew and a second-unit director and, on top of all that, he shot it in six countries.

He revealed that there had been no script in place at the time he joined the project yet the release date had already been set for a year later. He said: "It was done by travelling the world and trying to be inspired by locations." Action sequences were developed around interesting places they found, he said.

The project was intense because he had just five weeks to cut the movie and the tight deadlines meant there was no chance for re-shoots.
