One of the things I like about this movie is that there is a true sense of suspense in the final act. After Lee is killed on his way to warn the CIA of Zorin’s plan, there is only Bond and Stacey left. So the third act is suspenseful because the audience already knows that the calvary will not be coming to the rescue. It’s left to Bond (and the alliance he can form with May Day) to save the day.

I just watched this movie again for about the fourth of fifth time this year and I never get tired of it. I think it’s becoming my favorite Bond movie. The soundtrack is just awesome; I especially like the fight theme. Fantastic stunts topped off with 007 hanging from a blimp and he and Zorin fighting on top of the Golden Gate Bridge, as a matter of fact two national landmarks on different continents are used to great effect. Christopher Walken is just oozing with evil. True to his Nazi background he takes great delight in murdering even his own people. And May Day is my favorite henchman and for once we get a bit of character development for the henchman. After Zorin betrays her and she joins forces with 007. I just love the expression on her face as she stares up at Zorin just before the bomb explodes. She knows that she has just ruined his meticulous scheme. It’s the perfect revenge for her character.
