It was the beginning of the 50's and Albert Romolo Broccoli had just bought his first house in London with money earned from shooting government subsidized war films in the UK. He came to London for two reason: 1) "for the girls" and 2) for the movies. After achieving some success as a producer, he became interested in Ian Fleming's James Bond series, and along with Harry Saltzman, they began production of Dr. No.

The Broccoli's have been the gatekeepers to the Bond franchise since Broccoli's first production in 1964. Albert "Cubby" Broccoli met his third wife, Dana Wilson, in 1959 after two failed marriages. Dana brought her teenaged son Michael with her into the marriage, and Cubby accepted him as his own. A year after the marriage, Dana and Cubby had a daughter, Barbara. As his children grew up on the sets of Bond films, they were perfectly groomed to work with their father to help make the Bond series one of the most recognizable cultural icons of the 20th century. With Cubby's death in 1996 and Dana's in 2004, Barbara and Michael have ensured that the Bond franchise is in secure hands for another generation of Broccolis.

Without the Broccoli Family, Bond existence would be limited to black and white ink and the imaginations of Fleming's readers.
