Short stories book preview - James Bond Wiki
With no movie novelization planned for the 2008 James Bond film "Quantum of Solace", Ian Fleming Publications are moving ahead with a "complete collection" of Ian Fleming's short stories. To cash in on the movie, the title of the collection will be taken from one of the included stories...Quantum of Solace. Penguin Modern Classics, who reissued Fleming's novels in two waves in 2004 and 2006, will publish the collection in paperback for £8.99. It will be released on May 29th 2008 along with the reissue of 14 Ian Fleming novels in hardback, a day after the Ian Fleming centenary.

Details are yet to be revealed about the exact line-up of short stories featured in the collection, but the following have been previously published: Originally published in "For Your Eyes Only" (1960)
- From A View To A Kill
- For Your Eyes Only
- Quantum of Solace
- Risico
- The Hildebrand Rarity
Originally published in "Octopussy & The Living Daylights" (1966)
- Octopussy
- The Property of a Lady
- The Living Daylights
- 007 in New York
"For Your Eyes Only" was a collection of five short stories that Ian Fleming had originally written for one hour television shows for CBS in mind. Two of the short stories contained in the "For Your Eyes Only" collection had been previously published. "Quantum of Solace" had been published in the May issue of Cosmopolitan magazine in 1959, and "The Hildebrand Rarity" had been published in the March issue of Playboy magazine in 1960.

The original 1966 hardback "Octopussy & The Living Daylights" only included the two titular stories. The paperback edition added "The Property of a Lady". The 2002 paperback by Penguin added "007 in New York".

What was your favorite Fleming work? Do you think Fleming would be proud of Daniel Craig's CR?
