On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world’s most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano. Using his associates in the organization and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in Bolivia, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land. In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists, and even M, in order to unravel Greene’s sinister plan and stop his organization.

- EON pictures originally wanted Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Changing Lanes) to direct but he did not agree with its production schedule so he bowed out. Marc Forster, director of Monster's Ball and Finding Neverland, has been slated to helm the next film in the Bond franchise. The Swiss filmmaker recently wrapped the big-screen adaptation of the The Kite Runner. Before that, he tried comedy with Stranger Than Fiction; was nominated for a Golden Globe for his work on the Peter Pan-inspired drama Finding Neverland, which also landed Johnny Depp his second Oscar nomination; and directed Halle Berry to an Oscar win for Monster's Ball. It seems Halle didn't consult Forster when inking her deal for Catwoman.... "I have always been drawn to different kinds of stories and I have also always been a Bond fan, so it is very exciting to take on this challenge," Forster said. "The new direction that the Bond character has taken offers a host of new possibilities." He and Oscar-winning Crash and Million Dollar Baby Paul Haggis have completed the polish on a first draft written by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade. Michael G. Wilson on working with Marc Forster: "We wanted a director who would work with the actors and attract great actors. Marc is also incredibly well prepared. He's the most prepared director I've ever worked with. Every scene in the picture has been planned – he's put all the camera positions in even. Everyone on the crew looks like geniuses – no one ever looks bad – because everybody knows what the next shot is, everyone's preparing for the next shot. No one ever gets caught out. It's the most calm, friendly set that you've ever been on.
Detailed Synopsis:
Quantum of Solace takes place moments after Casino Royale. It continues where Casino Royale left off - Mr. White has been captured by Her Majesty's James Bond, and is placed in Bonds Aston Martin DBS V12. While taking White to a MI6 branch in Italy, Bond is pursued by Quantum henchmen.
| |
|
Avoiding the henchmen, Bond manages to get White to the MI6 branch where he is pressed for information. Mr. White reveles that Quantum "has people everywhere." At that, M's personal assistant, Mitchel, shoots and kills an MI6 operative. He attemps to kill M, but is dispruted and persued by Bond. Though Mitchel was unable to kill the head of Mi6, he manages to allow time for Mr. White to escape.

Bond pursues Mitchell through crowded market places and across rooftops to the top of a bell tower and then a final battle with Mitchell getting shot.

Does anyone have any information on Moneypenny and Q? I mean I understand why Q wasnt in Casino Royale or Quantum because he wasnt able to use Q branch. Especially since he wasnt really on a mission and by the looks of quantum he isnt really on mission either. He hasn't "become Bond yet" but hopefully they have plans to put moneypenny and Q in soon!!!

I know *some* of you are midnight-on-opening-day types. Myself, I'm more of a Sunday-matinee type. But I know those of you returning fresh from the theaters are ready to crow (or grouse), so let's hear it... what's the verdict?

"Quantum of Solace" as a Friday Night Thriller movie. Over the past 2 years, I've been a Bond fan so I know the best (Goldfinger, Casino Royale), the borderline (A View to A Kill, The Living Daylights), and the worst (The Man With The Golden Gun, Licence to Kill.) QoS is, in my opinion... amongst the best. Could it have been longer? Yes! More love scenes between Bond, Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko
and more confrontations between Bond and Dominic Greene. I felt it was too rushed but as Casino Royale was just about to get boring to watch, "Quantum" was a breath of fresh air. The major con was that it needed to be longer. Much. |
