Sorry ladies, Gerard Butler won't be following in the footsteps of his Scottish countryman Sean Connery to play James Bond any time soon. Speaking with British magazine ShortList, the Ugly Truth actor thinks playing the suave secret agent would prevent him from getting other acting jobs.

"I enjoy doing an array of films. If I was to play Bond, that would quickly stop. How likely would I be accepted doing those roles after having played Bond?

People outside of movies think it would be amazing to play 007, but as an actor you think, 'Well I don't know because from then on...?"


Playing 007 seems to have worked out for Pierce Brosnan, who continues to make a name for himself outside of the Ian Fleming franchise. And Daniel Craig, who is appearing on Broadway, looks like he's doing just fine outside of asking for his martinis "shaken, not stirred."

Is Gerard just afraid he'll end up like George Lazenby?
