Michael Gregg Wilson was born in 1942 to Dana Wilson and her husband Lewis Wilson, the first actor to play Batman. At the time, Dana was a screenwriter and met Lewis in California. Dana divorced Lewis and later married Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli, the co-producer of the James Bond film series. Michael was welcomed into Broccoli's family and ever since, has had an increasingly important role in the production of the Bond Films.
Wilson graduated from Harvey Mudd College in 1963 as an electrical engineer and later studied law at Stanford University. After earning his law degree, Michael worked as a lawyer for the United States government and later for a Washington D.C. firm that specialized in international law. In 1972 Michael left his law career behind and started working with his father and mother for EON Productions, the company producing the James Bond films. Wilson's first role at EON was in the legal department, making his law degree useful to the family business. Michael began to work more closely with the production of the Bond films starting withThe Spy Who Loved Me (1977) as an assistant to his father. In 1979, Michael became the executive producer for the film Moonraker. Since Moonraker, Michael has been either the executive producer or the producer of every James Bond film. Currently, he's co-producing the Bond films with his half-sister, Barbara.
Wilson has two sons David G. Wilson and Gregg Wilson. Both of them have worked on the Bond sets as editors and uncredited assistant co-producers. Along with Barbara he also has a half brother, Tony Broccoli.

In addition to his role as producer, Michael has been extremely active in the Bond franchise on a number of levels. He consistently plays extras in the films, starting with his role as a soldier at Fort Knox in
Goldfinger (1964) and continuing up through his portrayal of the corrupt Montenegrin police chief in
Casino Royale (2006). He has made cameo appearances in every official Bond film produced since 1977. Michael has also contributed either partially or entirely to the screenplays of
For Your Eyes Only (1981),
Octopussy (1983),
A View to a Kill (1985),
The Living Daylights (1987), and
License to KillI (1989). Since 1995's
Goldeneye, Michael and his half-sister Barbara have been co-producers for all of the Bond films. After the death of his mother in 2004, Michael and Barbara have continued to keep the Bond franchise solidly within the hands of the
Broccoli family.
