She is assigned to help Bond while he's in Rio. She meets him in his hotel room.

How she helps save the day:

Manuela shows Bond where Drax's warehouse is located. Bond finds a clue there that leads him to San Pedro. She's nearly killed by Jaws but Bond's arrival and crowd movements of the Rio Carnival save her.
