Who is he:
  • Lieutenant Hip is a Thai MI6 agent who is assigned to locate the Solex Agitator once Bond is taken off the case because Scaramanga has targeted him for assassination.

How he met Bond:
  • Hip and Bond meet after Scaramanga assassinates Dr. Gibson, the scientist who developed the Solex Agitator. Bond is passing by Gibson, who is being escorted by Hip, when Gibson is killed. Hip suspects that Bond killed him and takes him into custody, only to find out later that they're working for the same people and that their cases have merged.

Family:
  • Hip has two teen-aged nieces who are highly trained and deadly martial artists.

How he helps Bond:
  • Hip impersonates a vendor at the kick-boxing tournament and receives the Solex Agitator after Bond finds it laying on the floor beside Andrea Anders' purse (passing it along to Mary Goodnight... who ends up into Scaramanga's car's boot). Hip also arrives at Hai Fat's martial arts academy with his nieces and helps Bond escape by beating up the martial arts students chasing Bond.
