The James Bond Theme first appeared in Dr. No (1962) and was orchestrated by John Barry, who would compose for the Bond films up until The Living Daylights. The Score for Dr. No was written by Monty Norman, and he is credited as the composer of "The James Bond Theme."

A-ha The Living Daylights Composed by Paul Waaktaar and John Barry

The song became the subject of lawsuits between the band and Barry. Barry contended the band was ill-prepared to record in the studio. A-ha claimed that Barry chose the wrong vocal "takes" and mixed the song poorly. Settled out of court.
