For 22 films produced over more than 5 decades, the Bond franchise has been produced by only two entities: Harry Saltzman and the Broccoli Family. After the production of The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) and following the death of his wife, Saltzman sold his share of Danjaq (the parent company of Bond production company EON) to United Artists, effectively leaving control of the Bond franchise with the Broccolis. In their work on 9 Bond films, Saltzman and Broccoli offered the world an adaptation of Ian Fleming's character of James Bond that would revolutionize the action genre of modern film as well as introducing the world to the spy-thriller.
