Game Overview:

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is a first-person shooter game. The game is developed and published by Electronic Arts and released in 2004 to PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube and released to Nintendo DS in 2005. Your character is called "GoldenEye". "GoldenEye" is an ex-MI6 agent who after the death of Agent 007 is recruited by Auric Goldfinger. Goldfinger is a member of a powerful unnamed criminal organization. Your character is recruited to assassinate Goldfingers rival: Dr. Julius No. Beside Goldfinger and Dr. No several other characters from the James Bond series make appearances throughout the game in a non-canonical setting including Oddjob, ***** Galore, Xenia Onatopp and Francisco Scaramanga.

Multiplayer:

The game features a multiplayer component as well. It features a 4-player spilt screen play, as well as on-line play on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. On November 26, 2006 the servers for both versions were shut down due to "inactivity" on-line.

Sequel:

A sequel to GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was originally planned, but scrapped due to poor sales and reviews. The game's ending suggested a sequel as well. According to various sources, the sequel would have included vehicles and a longer story mode.
