"Oh yeah they were, didn't they walk hand in hand at the end of the film?"

At the end of the scene where Dr. Tynan is killed and they blow up the helicopter (it's cut out on some television airings). Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd are gay, flambuoyantly, campily gay. Bruce Glover absolutely swears he played Wint as a jealous lover.

This is my take on it--and I was probably the most vehement the last time: In "Day of the Jackal" (and the Bruce Willis re-make) the assassin seduced a male as a means to an end. It was just another tactic in his plot to assassinate his target. The guy was a sociopath and had no qualms about doing anything as long as he completed his assignment. No big deal.

And in the long history of espionage, sex has long been a weapon for compromise and blackmail. It's just a fact.

But given that, Bond is not gay. In the books, Bond has contempt for gays (as Fleming did). Bond has no qualms about seducing women to complete his mission--he's quite amoral about it. He's a serial seducer, and in the films, he could even be considered a rapist--I'm thinking Pat Fearing in "Thunderball," specifically--and don't give me that garbage about her "wanting it," he threatened her with her job unless she put out.

But it's not in the nature of Bond to seduce another man. I'll bet he'd flirt long enough to distract and then clock the guy, but that's about it--offer first base and then "lights out."

But that's as far as it goes. I'm sure MI6 could find a better candidate in their ranks to seduce a male.

I'm for gay rights and gay marriage. Homosexuals getting married will have no affect on my marriage. It certainly won't "threaten" it. If a religion doesn't want homosexuals to get married, they shouldn't provide the service. The state--which should keep its nose out of people's bedrooms--and churches--is another matter.
