I *love* this matchup. Arguably these are the two films in the entire series that best capture Fleming's vision. They're also (for my money, anyway) based on the two best Bond novels.

Either one could have a reasonable shot at unseating Goldfinger in the finals.

I'm stumping for FRWL. Think about it: Blofeld feeding the Siamese Fighting Fish to his cat; Klebb's creepy interview of Tania; the scene where Grant shadows Bond on the train; the ferocity of their struggle in the berth; the execution of Kronsteen. Pedro Armendariz, Lotte Lenya, Robert Shaw, Daniela Bianchi... and the first appearance of Desmond Llewelyn. This is the one.

Ok, eliminating the non-eon Bond films was a wise move, but getting rid of Moonraker? AND OCTOPUSSY? Unbelievable. Truly unbelievable. Goldfinger had some pretty easy contest, and although a brilliant Bind film, and the best of Connery's, not the best. From Russia With Love beating The Spy Who Loved Me is completely terrible. And Casino Royale should have been kicked out in Round One. Roger Moore played Bond best, not in A View To A Kill, but in all his other performances. I simply cannot believe that all his films were knocked out in the quarterfinals. Spy Who Loved Me should have won, both I, Ringo Starr, and the majority of the English-speaking world agree. Other decisions I agree with, like knocking out all the Pierce Brosnan and George Lazenby films as fast as possible. They weren't British enough. But giving Connery three of the four semi-finalists, it's just an awful lot of internet users being biased, and sticking to the originals. I bet if you people who run this website went out onto the streets, you would have a MUCH different tournament. It needs more voters, because me, being a Roger fan, believe that having all his films eliminated before the semi's, it's just injustice.
