Craig has let slip that production of the upcoming James Bond Film installment, Bond 23, will begin in late 2009. This was no surprise, I think to anyone could have guessed it. What bedazzled me was really Michael Sheen letting go of the role of Blofeld, and what truly vexed me (in a good way) was the rumors of Bessie back for more. Hell of a voice, that one……

Now, what I REALLY want to bedazzle and vex me is Michael G. Wilson in three ways:

  • Give us a new plot line, and enough with the whole “rogue bad-ass agent thing”.
    • Once in a bright moon is it OK to use (like the 20 year gap between OHMSS and License to Kill) but not back to back like in both Craigs previous films. No, give Bond an actual stint where we actually know who the hell is the Bond Villains (and not a variation of MI6 and Quantum members.
    • Enough with the rookie Bond thing. I'm tired of seeing Bond making rookie mistakes like killing leads and shooting up embassys. Bond is supposed to be the best at what he does. It seems in both Craigs films M is on his case because he did something stupid, even if he works it out in the end. M should trust Bond.

    The Fate of the James Bond franchise...
    Fundamentals of James Bond:
    • What I mean here is where were the Q, Moneypenny, and snappy gadgets we have come to know and love? In Bond 23, perhaps, can we at least get one of em’ back? I mean fer cryin’ out load, give us Bond Fans a rest and put one of them in the films.
    • Also what is a Bond movie without the Bond theme music during an action scene, or opening with the gun barrel, or the line "Bond, James Bond". All these elements were missing is Quantum Of Solace.

  • Craig → Charm:
    • Does Daniel Craig have the charm and charisma that say, Connery or Brosnan has? Heavens no, but he has had two women in bed. Bond is a womanizer and there is no hiding the fact so why not let 'er buck, show us a womanizing Bond that doesn't have too much respect and feelings to sleep with the girl in the end. What I want to see from Craig is an attempt to bring back some pre-Moore charm on the ladies. As for the quips,

    Craig might have inherited the role, but does he has the charm of James Bond? Something tells me Maybe Not
    Dramatic Fight Sequence:
    • Doesn’t it seem that every couple of Bond films, Bond and the villain duke it out, with the henchman following suit? Why not try that here? The last dramatic fight was probably Renard and Bond; consequently, if you think that Greene and Bond’s fight was melodramatic, then you’re gravely mistaken………..

  • Speaking of Villainy…
    • Can we get an actual henchman that can physically challenge Bond? Elvis (not the singer, Greene’s henchman) was more of a fruitcake than a Jaws. And Kratt got his ass shot and whip……dare I say Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Just a few things to get my mind off ease. Bond 23 will either make or break Craig, I think. He gave a hell-of-a-physical performance in Casino Royale, but followed poorly in Quantum of Solace; possibly due to “poor scripting”, “inadequate supporting cast” or "maybe he just doesn't have it in him". What ever the case may be…fix it! And lets get Bond back to par, shall we?

They need a need to have a longer story for Bond 23. Make the movie 2 hours again. Make the film less of a Bourne style movie and bring it back closer to what the Bronson's first two outings of James Bonds were like. Bring back Moneypenny and Q.

The new villain should be played by Pierce Brosnan, that would be awesome. Q should be played by Jason Statham. Moneypenny should be Nicole Kidman. The Henchman should be Vinnie Jones, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Duane Rock Johnson. The new Bond girl should be Kate from Lost. Felix Leiter should be Mark Valley from Human Target.
