With less than two years until the next James Bond adventure is scheduled to hits screens, the first details have finally emerged about what we can expect to see and who will be placing those bon mots in Bond's mouth.

First up, screenwriter Peter Morgan has been hired to draft the script for Bond 23(!), a widely applauded decision since Peter is one of the most acclaimed screenwriters working today. He helped create the tense worlds of "The Queen," "The Last King of Scotland" and "Frost/Nixon." Considering Peter's ability to slyly mix comedy and drama, it looks like everyone involved agrees with star Daniel Craig that the last film's decidedly dour tone was a major error. Look for Bond 23 to feature more of the light, witty moments that made "Casino Royale" such a success. Although considering the rumored villain this time around, finding moments of levity could be difficult.

According to The Guardian, a member of Afghanistan's drug enforcement team has been brought aboard as a consultant, leading many to believe that the James will spar with Afghan agents/terrorists/drug lords in Bond 23.
I don't know how I feel about this plan -- which should be taken with a grain of salt anyway. I remember when talk of a "True Lies 2" sprung up post-9/11, James Cameron said that we live in a different world today where using Middle Eastern terrorists as villains for a big screen adventure felt insensitive. But if anyone can shape the treacherous and taboo topic into a smart and savvy script, it's Peter Morgan.
