THE GRAND BLOFELD UNIFICATION THEORY

A Treatise on Feline Psycho-Symbiosis as a Causative Factor in Serial Blofeldism

by Green-Arrow

He is the greatest criminal mastermind of all time — the most recognized, the most feared, the most respected of all supervillains. And yet, to his admirers and enemies alike, there has always been something off, something amiss, about the great Ernst Stavro Blofeld...
Who's running SPECTRE?
Will the real Ernst Stavro Blofeld please stand up?

His hair comes and goes. Scars and neck injuries vanish and then reappear. Earlobes are cut off and mysteriously grow back. Voices, accents, and nationalities careen wildly. In fact, there appears to be but one common thread between the many incarnations and reincarnations of the master villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld: his cat.

Omnipresent and all-seeing, the cat is privy to the innermost dealings and machinations of SPECTRE's Number One. And yet, when Blofeld's plots unravel explosively at the hands of one James Bond, when the very world comes crashing down around Blofeld, the cat always escapes... only to invariably reappear in the arms of an all-new Blofeld for another go at world domination.

If we step back and look beyond the complexities of the Blofeld situation, wipe clean our assumptions and listen to what Occam's Razor is telling us, the truth becomes suddenly, shockingly, bracingly clear:
Blofeld's cat
The cat is Blofeld!

The mastermind behind the most powerful criminal organization in history is, in fact, a cat... a particularly devious cat possessing profound telepathic abilities, capable of seizing control of a human host and making that host the puppet through which he manipulates his criminal empire and brings his nefarious schemes to fruition.

With the cat's underlings (as well as his enemies) focused on the "host" Blofeld, the real villain remains relatively safe from betrayal, assassination, or capture, without ever leaving the command chair. And when a host human fails, dies, or outlives his usefulness, the cat merely discards this "Blofeld" and moves on to a new a new host, thus confounding his pursuers and maintaining control of his organization.

Acknowledgments: Although this particular exploration of the Grand Blofeld Unification Theory is based upon my own investigations, I by no means lay claim to the original discovery of the concept. Much credit and recognition must be given to Snell and his exceptionally insightful I Expect You To Die! blog (although Snell himself also disavows principle credit for the theorem). On further investigation, I have also found similar observations espoused by Freemo on CommanderBond.net. Doubtless there are many others out there who have also unraveled this great truth, and the contributions of their research are hereby acknowledged and duly lauded. ~ Green-Arrow

I do like the concept of the Cat as Blofeld. However, there is one issue that this theory does not answer: Why is it the Blofeld (man or cat) does not recognize Bond? I have no theory just asking the question.

Charles Stross explores this idea in one of his Laundry series books. Of course, the cat is one of the the Cthulhu.
