How he is dispatched:
  • Goldfinger hijacks the plane taking Bond to meet the U.S. president. When he threatens to shoot Bond, he is overpowered but manages to fire a shot, blowing out a window of the plane. In the rapid decompression, Bond grabs a hand-hold, but Goldfinger is sucked out of the plane to his death.
  • Evil scheme:
    • He is gold-obsessed and hatches a plan to detonate a nuclear bomb in Ft. Knox to destabilize the U.S. gold market, thereby significantly increasing the net worth of his own gold billion stockpiles.
    How plans were foiled:
    • Bond seduces PussyGalore, who betrays Goldfinger and removes the deadly gas from her plane squadron
    • Bond gets out of his handcuffs and kills Oddjob
    • Bond defuses the bomb

  • Born in 1912 in Zwickau, Germany, Gert Fröbe was a member of the Nazi Party before and during World War II. However, he helped German Jews by hiding them. Because of his former membership in the Nazi Party, Goldfinger was initially banned in Israel until he was publicly thanked for his help by a Jewish family. He could not speak English very well and had his voice dubbed for the entire film.
  • He also starred in the Dr Mabuse film series, The Longest Day, Is Paris burning?, Those magnificent men in their flying machines, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Ludwig most notably.
  • He died on september 5th 1988.

    Personally, I think Goldfinger is the best Bond movie, and obviously you people agree, but Goldfinger had one of the best plans, and it was straightforeward. I wish Bond could go back to the way it was in the 60's...
