How he is dispatched:
- Largo double-crosses him. The plan is for Palazzi to hijack a plane carrying nuclear bombs and land the plane in the middle of the ocean where he will be collected by Largo along with the bombs. When Largo arrives, he cuts Palazzi's oxygen tube, leaving him the plane's cockpit to drown.
Evil scheme:
- Hired by SPECTRE to steal nuclear bombs by impersonating Major Derval, who's scheduled to accompany a test flight carrying the bombs. Palazzi spends years studying Derval and undergoing plastic surgery to match his appearance. Having killed Derval (who's seduced by Fiona Volpe), Palazzi assumes his identity and joins the crew of the plane. By introducing a poisonous gas into the plane's cockpit, Palazzi kills the crew and hijacks the plane.
How plans were foiled:
- Largo's plan went off as designed. Palazzi's plan to extort Largo for more money is foiled when Largo leaves him at the bottom of the Atlantic. Shark bait!

Ironically, when Bond discovers that Largo killed Derval, it is Angelo's body he finds, not Derval's. Nevertheless, because of Angelo's surgery, Bond does not know it is Angelo.
