Where would Bond Films (or just plain James Bond) be today without a man named 'Cubby'?

From his three wives, to his days in the American Navy, Albert Broccoli was a busy man. He produced over 40 movies, many of which were Bond Films, filmed in diverse locales from the United Kingdom to tiny Pinewood Studios. But his determination to pursue his dream of becoming a film producer led him to emerge as one of the most succesful producers of all time! Even after his death in 1996, his work continues today, carried on by his daughter Barbara Broccoli and step-son Michael G. Wilson.

"Cubby"

Albert Romolo Broccoli was born in Queens, New York, on April 5, 1909. But the young 'city slicker' soon became a country boy as his mother and father, Cristina and Giovanni, moved to the family farm. The family business was growing and selling vegtables (with that last name, would you not buy from them?). It's rumored that the Broccoli's father was responsible for genetically engineering the broccoli vegetable by crossing a cauliflower with a pea.

As he grew up, Albert's life became involved in the media. Pat Dicicco, Albert's cousin, invited Albert to Los Angles for the weekend. Pat was an agent to many sucessful actors at the time, including Bob Hope and Cary Grant. Coming off the plane in Los Angeles, his cousin had a gift basket for Albert. Inside the basket was a comic entitled "Kabibble." Pat nicknamed Albert "Cubby" for a character in the comics.

In Los Angeles, Albert's career in stardom began. He meet influencianpeople in the movie business through his cousin, and his imigination grew. He was caught up by the media, and his passion for Hollywood took root.
