| 00Whatever | Mess up in Dr. No | 2 | Tuesday, 11:40 AM EST by 00Whatever | ||||

Ok last Saturday I started one of my own little Bond marathons going from first to last. So the first is Dr. No and I noticed and mess up in the lines. I refer you all to the scene in Dr. No where Bond is called into M's office where he exchanges his Bretta for a Walter PPK, during M's lecture to Bond on the faults in his Bretta he messes up. In the subtitles it says "Since I have been head of MI6 there has been a 10% drop in 00 casualties and I want it to stay that way". But if you listen really carefully he says "Since I have been head of MI7", he clearly says MI7 instead of MI6 yet the subtitles still say MI6. I just thought I would point that out as they should have did another take in that scene but I guess they overlooked that little mess up.

Hello Barbara, how are you ? I hope you are fine. Has it been a little too quiet for you lately ? Are you ready for some new challenge ? A new « 007 » movie ? Maybe you would like to consider a brand new figure for James !! I could send you a couple of nice pics of a good candidate who could fit a a new J.B. movie !! *** James = abc_persmgt@yahoo.ca

I know it's impossible to make a perfect chronological order out of Bond films but this is how I see it:
Chronologically from the first to the last: 1. Casino Royale 2. Quantum of Solace 3. Goldeneye 4. Tomorrow never dies 5. Dr. No 6. From Russia with love 7. For your eyes only 8. Thunderball 9. Live and let die 10. You only live twice 11. On her majesty's secret service 12. Diamonds are forever 13. Goldfinger 14. Moonraker 15. Octopussy 16. The living daylights 17. The man with the golden gun 18. The spy who loved me 19. A view to a kill 20. License to kill 21. The world is not enough 22. Die another day What do you think?

I see a lot of people really dislike these two movies. I thought LTK was the best movie in the past 20 years. I like how it combined elements from the Fleming novels into a pretty good plot. I also like FYEO. I thought it was easily the best Roger Moore Bond Film. Who could forget Bibi Dahl???
Also, in LTK Bond was supposed to go to Turkey when he decided to stay in Key Largo. Did they ever plan a Bond movie around that?

Was Ling trying to kill Bond, or was she involved with the conspiracy to fake his death?

This used to be my favorite Moore Bond film when I was a teenager. That distinction now belongs to “For Your Eyes Only,” which is not only my favorite Bond film with Moore, but also one of my favorite action films in general.
In retrospect “The Spy Who Loved Me” was just what the 007 series needed after the tepid “The Man with the Golden Gun.” It’s great fun, even if some of the movie didn’t hold up to my 15 or 16 year old memory. I had trouble accepting Major Amasova as the USSR’s “best” agent. The script tells us that she is the equal to 007, unfortunately there’s never any action to confirm this. She does knock out Bond and steal the microfilm, but only after he has looked at it, and deemed it unworthy. She has some technical knowledge that Bond doesn’t have, but in the end she becomes the standard damsel in distress. “Tomorrow Never Dies” also teams 007 up with a communist agent, but Wai Lin is a much more believable as a secret agent, and she participated equally in the assault on the stealth ship which parallels the battle 007 and the submarine crews have with Stromberg’s private army. Usually the main villains die an exotic or particularly unpleasant death. Bond kills Stromberg in a relatively pedestrian manner, with several well placed shots from the Walther PPK. However, Stromberg is so ice cold and has so much blood on his hands that it was emotionally satisfying to watch Bond gun him down like a common criminal. Jaws is an excellent henchman, and he is used well in this film. When he returns in “Moonraker” he becomes a farcical character So it’s a good Bond film, but not a great one; a crowd pleaser. Fantastic stunts, great chases (some of the music has a definite “disco” flavor, but hey it’s 1977), exotic locations, the submarine Lotus, and a great theme song. What’s not to like?

Die Another Day is a great action thriller. Everybody has been complaining and saying that it is garbage for a reason i cannot understand. Sure the stunts are made with CGI sure there is an invisible car. I thought that was cool. People are even complaining on another website that the action had morphed with Rambo. The action had gotten crazy because it was a new era. The people that made the movie are not going to keep the action all classic now that it was 2002. All in all I think it was a great bond movie just like all the other ones are great.

A very beautiful movie in its own way. The only bad note is Lazenby not returing as 007. Would have been a good Bond. Luv, ERN ( 008 )

I know *some* of you are midnight-on-opening-day types. Myself, I'm more of a Sunday-matinee type. But I know those of you returning fresh from the theaters are ready to crow (or grouse), so let's hear it... what's the verdict?

Is it just me or did the QoS gunbarrel sequence seem half-assed compaired to previous ones? By that I mean it lacks detail in the rifeling and seems like it moved too quickly. Don't get me wrong I think QoS is a good picture and DC is great as 007, I just felt they could have done a better job with the quality of the gunbarrel sequence on this one.

There is a Bond movie where, I think it's one of the "Bond Girls", she falls backward from a balcony and her dress unravels as she slowly and safely falls to the ground, getting away from James. Can anyone tell me what movie that was in? Octopussy maybe??

| Oddfinger | Excellent movie, but Bond's worst failing | 0 | Jul 14 2009, 11:17 AM EDT by Oddfinger | ||||

I saw this movie for the first time four years ago, adding myself to the other 76% of all movie watchers who have seen this film. I enjoyed it very much, but one can tell that this is a definite turn from previous, and indeed following, Bond films. In this film, if Goldfinger is the man with the Midas Touch, Bond has just the reverse: everything he touches turns to crap. He gets Masterson killed, he only escapes the laser because Goldfinger finds out that he needs him, he can't do anything about the bomb, and when MI6 comes to rescue Bond, they find him drinking with Goldfinger in such a relaxed pose that they assume that everything is just peachy. Do not misunderstand. I am a Bond\Connery fan and I am in no way saying that any of this detracts from the movie. I am simply saying that Bond's many fails in this film are part of the reason that non-Bond fans think that he is an idiot, and part of the reason we have Chuck Norris facts instead of James Bond ones.
