MORE ABOUT ME...

My Favorite Bond Film: From Russia With Love

My first Bond film was: Diamonds are Forever (regrettingly)

My favorite gadget is: The Attache Case from FRWL, but also like the pens from Octopussy (the combo acid/radio) and the grenade from GoldenEye

My favorite villains are:
Ernst Stavo Bloefeld (most classic)
Auric Goldfinger (best mastermind)
Emilio Largo (most pimp)
Francisco Scarmanga (coolest)
Max Zorin (funniest)
Alec Trevalyn (most personal)
Elliot Carver (most opportunistic)

My favorite henchmen are: Red Grant, Oddjob, Fiona Volpe, Tee-Hee, Gobinda, Xenia Onatopp (in consideration: Kronstein, Helga Brandt,
Nick-Nack, Jaws, Naomi, Locque, Necros, Cigar Girl)

Films in Order of Preference (to be completed):
1. From Russia With Love (The ultimate espionage tale, the ultimate Bond adventure)
2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Dangerous, exciting, mental and even tragic...and yes, Lazenby isn't bad either)
3. Goldfinger (Bond 101, little to say about it you don't know)
4. GoldenEye (A rocketing start to the Brosnan era, taking the best of four prior Bonds and creating an epic tale of trust and revenge)
5.
The Man with the Golden Gun (Vastly underrated, just fun from start to finish)
6.
For Your Eyes Only (Moore's best "serious" film, great with action, tension and cute Bond girls...yes, Bibi included)
7. Dr. No (Bond by the (Ian Fleming) book, feels more like an international detective story than the spy sagas we know and love)
8. Thunderball (Pretty much defined the Bond world just as much as the three prior, but dragged down by a couple uninspired action sequences, wastes it's gorgeous underwater photography...and oh yeah, the spearguns)
9. Live and Let Die (Really strange due to the voodoo undertones and blaxploitation themes but the movie made do with it in a good way, some silliness and drag but not as bad as some others, with a strong set of villains in Kanaga's gang and a Seymour a memorable girl)
10. License to Kill (Dalton finally gets the hang of being Bond...too bad it's his last; a very strong revenge story with some really cool and brutal sequences and "Scarface the Bond villain", but not the best Bond girls, a bit draggy in the middle and some weird oil tanker usage)
11. The Living Daylights (Movie has some strong themes and tries to wipe away the Moore era, but Dalton is a bit too dark even compared to Connery, the plot tries to stuff too much in and it mostly goes down the tubes by bringing in the Soviet/Afghan war)
12. Tomorrow Never Dies (Brosnan's "half and half", but hard to tell it is: Michelle Yeoh and Johnathan Pryce are worth it as is the muckraking storyline, but bad action sequences aside one Yeoh fight and some unmemorable characters knock it down a bit)
13. You Only Live Twice (Connery's "half and half": a really strong first half with some classic espionage, but all goes down the tubes with the ninjas and "Japanization" of Bond...though the volcano and Bloefeld's first appearance are still classic)
14. Octopussy (Moore's "half and half": a strong first half that gives way to...clowns and tiger hunts...though the girls are really hot aside from Maud)
15. The Spy Who Loved Me (Bach's not bad as a Bond girl, Jaws is classic if a bit silly, and the Lotus is memorable as is a ship infiltration...but doesn't feel as good as I remember)
16. The World Is Not Enough (A fun speedboat chase on the Thames at the start, an alright final fight on a sub and a nice intro to John Cleese as the new Q. Otherwise a dull movie with bad action, bad villain, dull story and an annoying evil Bond girl)
17. Moonraker (Too much wasted potential: the space shuttle usage is authentic, the girls are some of the hottest and there's a memorable Amazon river chase, but the silliness is on overload with some of the stupidest gadgets, action sequences, and a lost villain in Drax)
18. A View to a Kill (If you like a Steed/Templar team-up or want to see Christopher Walken act...like Christopher Walken, it can be fun. Otherwise, it's mostly junk)
19. Diamonds are Forever (Was hard to top as my least favorite; I only watch it for Plenty O'Toole, the Vegas car chase, the fight with Franks in Amsterdam and Shirley Bassey's song. Connery should have said "Never" before this fiasco)
20. Die Another Day (There are good things: the "vanishing" Aston Martin is my favorite super-car since the classic with a great duel with a Jaguar and Frost is...OK, but aside from that, a complete mess of stupidity in nearly everything...and did I mention Halle Berry?)

Favorite Bond moments (chronological):

-Dr. No: Bond kills Strangeways
-FRWL: Bond & Red Grant's confrontation on the Orient Express
-Goldfinger: Bond vs. Oddjob in Fort Knox
-Thunderball: Bond escapes Largo's shark pool
-YOLT: The Osato building siege (the first one from Henderson's murder until Bond gets away with Aki)
-OHMSS: Bond flies up to Piz Gloria with Irma Bundt
-DAF: Bond vs. Franks in the elevator
-LALD: Bond's final battle with Tee-Hee
-TMWTGG: Bond vs. Scarmanga
-TSWLM: Stromberg's intro (could have said the Lotus scene but kiling Naomi in cold blood shoots it down)
-MR: The Amazon chase
-FYEO: The cliffside climb (well it's that or Bond trying to "unseduce" Bibi)
-Octopussy: The Acrostar
-AVTAK: Zorin killing everyone near the end
-TLD: Necros assassinates Saunders
-LTK: The whole water sequence with Bond & Sanchez' minions
-GE: Bond vs. Trevalayn on the sattelitte dish
-TND: (get back to me on this)
-TWINE: Bond chases the Cigar Girl on the Thames
-DAD: Aston Martin Vanish vs. Zao's Jaguar

Top Bond Girls (in movie order, not preference order; to be completed):
-Tatiana Romanova: Serious Russian beauty, programmed but defiant and tough
-Pussy Galore: The toughest of Bond girls who can handle herself, her girls, Goldfinger...even Bond! (to a point)
-Domino Derval: Determined for revenge and freedom from Largo, tough and beautiful
-Aki: Tiger Tanaka's right-hand, hated her getting killed off for Kissy Suzuki to enter the tale
-
Tracy di Vicenzo: Beautiful, powerful, independent...tragic.
-Plenty O'Toole: Two big reasons to love her...though she is still cute for a patsy and probably should have been the Bond Girl.
-Solitaire: Her "tarot power" is strange but it's nice to see her so young and cute before becoming "Dr. Quinn"
-Mary Goodnight: Adorable, pure and simple: she tries her best even if it screws up and I can't imagine a better girl for TMWTGG
-Andrea Anders: Took a while to come around, but she just wanted out, even if it lead to her downfall (and it isn't Octopussy)
-Magda: Very talented, very cute...and sadly thrown aside for Maud Adam's return! And she wears that harem outfit...
-Wai Lin: Independent, kicks a ton of butt and the toughest Chinese Bond girl yet...what's not to like?
-Dolly (?): Yeah, she's not technically a "Bond Girl"...more a "Jaws Girl"...but I love her sweetness, innocence...and the pigtails and glasses

O
n the Fence: Sylvia Trench, Miss Taro, Honey Rider, Jill Masterson, Anya Amasova, Holly Goodhead, Corrine, Lisl von Schlaf, Pola, Natalia Simonova
